2021-Present VUMC Frontotemporal Dementia Clinic – Speech Pathologist
∙ Provide speech, language, and swallow screenings within Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Cognitive Behavioral Neurology clinic for patients with confirmed or suspected frontotemporal dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases
∙ Serve as a member of the multidisciplinary ALLFTD research team and provide speech and language evaluations for those participating in the longitudinal study
2019-Present PPA Learning Center SLP Services – Sole Proprietor
∙ Provide speech-language services and communication coaching to individuals with neurogenic communication disorders and voice disorders. Specializing in psychoeducational services for individuals with primary progressive aphasia and their families.
∙ Provide consultation for community organizations, private practices, and publishing firms in the areas of rare neurodegenerative diseases, development of products centered on cultural humility and inclusiveness, and psychometrics and clinical tool selection.
2018-2021 UCLA Health – Speech Pathologist
∙ Established program for patients referred from the UCLA Frontotemporal Dementia Clinic including: referral workflow, general treatment structure, quarterly rounds with director of UCLA FTD Clinic, interdisciplinary collaboration and community network of medical and ancillary service providers
∙ Established Neuromuscular Facial Retraining program and initiated collaboration with primary MD in Head and Neck Facial Plastic Reconstructive Surgery department to treat patients with facial palsy, synkinesis, and/or facial reanimation surgery
∙ Served as the sole clinician to provide therapy for patients in the UCLA Speech and Swallow Preservation Program, who were undergoing chemo-radiation during the initial months of the COVID-19 pandemic
∙ Organize bimonthly aphasia group therapy and PPA group therapy at UCLA Speech Pathology Clinic facilitated by California State University Northridge Professors and students
∙ Provide mentorship and hands-on experience to clinicians, graduate and undergraduate students of speech-language pathology in the area neurogenic communicative disorders and neuromuscular facial retraining, as well and voice and swallowing disorders
∙ Consult neurobehavioral fellows and PhD candidates on research grant proposals related to the treatment of primary progressive aphasia
∙ Provide voice, swallowing (instrumental and clinical), and communication assessment and therapy in the inpatient and outpatient settings to individuals with complex medical conditions including head and neck cancer, organ transplant, neurological movement disorders, functional disorders, neurodegenerative diseases
∙ Collaborate with head and neck surgeons on voice treatments for transgender and gender-diverse patients
